My weekend

*Saturday--work went fine. We found out that we are getting t-shirts to wear.
We each voted for our 3 top colors. Thankfully, there were a lot of neat colors to choose from. The top colors winning where: Kiwi, Cornflower Blue, and Black. They will have the bakery's name and logo on the pocket and we have to wear jeans or khakis.
It will make us look a lot more professional.
*Sunday--had another really good sermon. It was on Col. 2:16-23.
Our Pastor talked about how legalism and setting human boundaries on yourself and others can eat way from the gospel message. Christ is the only boundary we need; as believers we are free in Christ.
After church we went over to the Ruckel's to celebrate Joseph's 11th B.day.
I can't believe he is 11!
Rob and Paula, being Rob and Paula
Joseph wanted Chinese food. It was soooo good! Watching Joseph opening his presents

It was Grandma's B.day tooTaylor and I
I was really tiredThe Birthday, Boy!
Whitney's hair was mega-long! So she decided to get it all lopped offPaula and I watching so seriously!

I slept in the car all the way home. I seem to be tired all the time. I don't remember when was the last time I slept in past 7 am. I get up every morning at 6:30 and then I work Saturday so I usually get up between 5am-6am. We go to the early service on Sundays and I get up at 6:15 am. So, I am looking forward to my fall work schedule of no Saturdays! Don't say I am complaining though! ;) I have been taught a lot and have become more disciplined just from not sleeping in.

After I got home I decided to buy a new camera so I got:I wanted to get a small camera for Phantom and a few other things coming up! I am excited!

Our 2nd Amendment Rights

1. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject
2. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone
3. Colt: The original point and click interface
4. Gun control is not about guns; it's about control
5. If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?
6. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words
7. If you don't know your rights, you don't have any
8. Those who trade liberty for security have neither
9. What part of 'shall not be infringed' do you not understand?
10 The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others
11. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday
12. Guns have only two enemies; rust and politicians
13. Know guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety
14. You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive
15. 911: Government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer
16. Assault is a behavior, not a device
17. Criminals love gun control; it makes their jobs safer
18. If guns cause crime, then matches cause arsons
19. Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them
20. You have only the rights you are willing to fight for
21. Enforce the gun control laws we ALREADY have; don't make more
22. When you remove the people's right to bear arms, you create slaves
23. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control
24. It is better to be in court for protecting yourself with a gun then to be in a coffin for not.

It is a sad day, when our Supreme Court has to even hear a case about whether our
2nd Amendment right is Consitutional or not....
thank God it was upheld......for now.

10 Random Things About Me

Lauren tagged me so here it goes:

*I hate knuckle-popping. In fact, I hate any sort of joint popping. I don’t know what it is, but it really grosses me out! I am scared to do it to myself, and when it happens it is completely by accident and it really hurts!

*I love London, UK. I have been there twice. It is one of the most amazing places on earth! I hope to live there one of these days.*I have been dog sledding. It was a blast! If we only had 3 feet of snow continually on the ground here, I would definitely use it to get around! Imagine all the money I would save in gas! *I love rainy weather, more than a clear sunny day. I like the coziness of it in the winter, and in the spring/summer how it makes everything look so green. I like the smell it leaves on the asphalt. Maybe this is why I should live in London?

*I LOVE Johnny Depp! ‘Nuff said! ;)
*I HATE airport security! I like to fly, but I dread going through security. I don’t know why? I don’t have anything to hide!

*I have been to all 50 states, except for North Dakota and Alaska. It is one of my goals to see them both before I die. I have no idea when I will get up to ND though?

*I like to people-watch. My favorite thing to do when we lived in Europe or when we visit a new place is to sit at a café, have a cappuccino and just watch people and make up stories. I like to see what they are wearing, who they are talking with, their mannerism. Weird, I know? But is its fun, and it has taught me to be very observant. *I love fashion. Right now I am looking into the possibilities it offers*I don’t have a favorite color. It depends on what mood I am in, what season it is, but I jump from color to color.

An Amazing Post

I don't know if you have noticed, but I have a list of my fav blogs that are located on the right side.
Alyssa's blog, is one that I read almost everyday.
It is funny, how I have not even met her in real life, but I feel I know a lot about her just through her posts and pictures. I admire her and her husband and how they are raising their children. I hope that I am like her if, one day, I get married and have children.
Her post today was amazing. She was talking about her son who just turned 10, and how she wanted God to be in control of his life and not her.
She said something that I have felt for awhile, but never have put into words
"........ I'll be honest with you, I don't want to be one of these mom's who holds on. I don't want to be one of these parents who controls. I really don't want to have adult sons who are still hanging out somewhat visionless in their twenties (or teens either) because after all, Robert and I haven't found them a wife yet and we don't want them to go anywhere where they might make bad decisions."
Wow.....if you have time read her entire post, it is kind of long, but really good!
Have a good day!

My weekend

I had a good weekend.

On Friday I finished up my school for the week. And I found out that I was one point shy of making an A+ on my first speech! And I got a 94 on my first Econ test! Thank you, Lord!

We had the Ruckel's over for some fun in the sun! We always have a great time together! It is amazing how with some people it is like you have known them your entire life.
By a last-minute decision, I decided to spend the night with them. Whitney, Morgan and I walked 3 miles together around the lake and then watched a movie.

I went to work on Saturday. All is going well in Bakery World. Nothing too exciting happened, which can be a good thing! That night I went out to eat with Whitney, Morgan, and Ericka at Ted's. We talked about our trip to see the Phantom. I am so excited! After that, us three walked another 3 miles! I love walking! It is so addicting!

Our pastor preached a great sermon on Sunday. It was about our freedom in Christ. After coming home, my parents and I walked another 3 miles in our development, see I told you I am addicted! And then I took a 3 hour nap, and then read until 11 pm, and then went to bed!

And now it is Monday :( Oh well, another 4 days until the weekend comes around again!

I took the pics of my puppies on Friday. Scary I know, but they crack me up!

A Miracle

Today I took my Principles of Finance Test.
This was my 25th CLEP/DSST test I have taken.
So I guess after taking so many, I can go with my gut instinct, and tell if I am ready to take the test.
I had studied for this test for a month, and since I started two new classes this week, I really wanted to get the credits for Finance and move on.
So I took it today.
Before I begin studying for any test, I always read the overview of what the test consists of, so I know what to study. The official fact sheet for the test, stated that the time-value tables for the Present and Future Value of Annuitys' would be provided in the test, which seemed normal to me, since my Managerial Accounting Professor also provided them on all our exams.
I remember feeling relieved, since the equation for PV and FV is long and difficult to do.
So I studied for a month, not bothering to memorize the equations.
My second question into the test asked for the PV of a bond. And the time-value table was not provided.
I first searched around the whole test, making sure I did not miss anything.
Nope, they had not provided it.
Then I freaked out.
I knew about 30% of the test consisted of Time Values, and that would make or break my grade.
And then it hit me,
"Lydia, you can either give up now, because you don't have the knowledge to do this on your own; or you can trust God with the answers and follow His leading."
I then prayed and gave the whole test to God. I told Him, He knew where I was at, how much I needed to pass this test, and what it would mean if I didn't. But I told Him I would praise Him if I passed or failed. It was in His control. I could not do it. It had to be all Him.
I think that is the hardest step of faith I have ever had to take on my college journey.
So, I continued with the test.
It seemed like every three questions consisted of time values. Each one, I prayed over and tried my best to think about the problem logically and then picked the one the seemed right.
The rest of the test consisted of information that I knew.
I think I died on question 88.
Then I pushed the 'End Test' button.
I passed.
I haven't stopped praising God since.
He worked a miracle in my life today.

As soon as I got home, I e-mailed DSST and told them what had happened.
They just better be happy, that I have a God that can work miracles, or I would not have been a happy camper!

Orinoco Flow

Okay.
This song came onto my ipod when I was out on my three-miler.
I have to say this is my favorite song in the entire world.
I get goose-bumps when I hear it.
It catches the excitement that I feel when I travel.
Gosh, I love to travel!
People watching is my favorite thing to do when I visit new places.
I love to sit in a café and look at all the people that come in and out, and that walk by.
I make up stories in my mind of what their life is like.
“To the island of the moon,
Carry me on the waves
To the lands I’ve never been, To the lands I’ve never seen.
We can sail, we can sail……
We can steer, we can near.”

*Gladiator sandals are sweet. Especially in silver.
*Watching six movies in one day, will fry your brain......but it is fun.
*I hate awkward situations. Especially when I am involved.
*Burberry London is the best perfume in the whole world.
*Trusting God is a moment by moment commitment.
*I wish it was October 2009!
