Leaving High School Behind

The thought of growing older is a love/hate feeling.
I love being on my own; I love making my own decisions; I love acting like an adult; I love being treated like an adult; I love the excitement of the unknown, and knowing that the whole world is at my feet, and with God’s help I will achieve what He wants me to do.
But with all of these wonderful new experiences, the scary ones come hand-in-hand.
It is hard being lonely sometimes; I like being alone most of the times, but every once in a while it is difficult having to do the ‘responsible’ thing and study on Saturday, while all of my friends are having fun. Even if sometimes I enjoy it, it is hard not knowing what is coming next, and feeling like you are floundering and asking yourself, “Will this hard work ever pay off?” It is hard having the feeling of immediacy: I want it now, I don’t want to wait.
But change is normal, it is good. If fact, it is wrong to not want to change, to not want to challenge yourself, to discipline yourself. It is through these difficulties that you rely more on God and less on yourself.
It is time to leave high school behind. It is time to become an adult. It is time to start living your own life, to take what your parents and mentors have taught you, and to start living in the world.
Not of it, but in it.

Passports, 4am Mornings, and Sliders

I got my new passport in the mail yesterday!

I love the new passport style! There are cool pictures and quotes on every page from famous Americans. I am mainly happy to get a new passport photo. My last one was so awful! I had a security guy in the Dallas Airport ask me if it was really me.........You don't make the best fashion choices when your fourteen! The only thing my passport needs now, is entry stamps to make it look used!

On Saturday morning I got up at 4am to go to work. It was a CRAZY day at the bakery, but it was so much fun! Between missing people because of sickness, time-off, and competition trips, we had two less decorators and no boss or manager around! We ran into three major crisis', which consisted of: a missed order, the top tier of wedding cake getting destroyed right before it was supposed to be delivered and a frustrating customer leaving their $200 cake in the direct sun in their car, and then blaming it on us and telling us we have one hour to fix it. But we successfully conquered and did it all while laughing hysterically! Eleven hours of work and it was a blast.....not to mention a good paycheck! ;) I am just so thankful to God for letting me work at something I enjoy so much! I love the fast paced, 'something-new-happening-every-moment' feeling! It never gets boring! Enjoying what you do makes all the difference in the world!

I also got a new phone! It was between either the Razar or the new Slider phone, but after much debating, I decided to go with the Slider. It has an awesome built in MP3 player.

I'm lovin' the pink

Audrey Hepburn

She is known as the epitome of womanly beauty, elegance and grace. However, she knew that true beauty does not come from the outward appearance but from the inward; from what your heart looks like.
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

The Bakery

I am a part time decorator at a bakery. I love what I do! It is a lot of fun being paid to be imaginative; to create things that people have as the focal points of some of the happiest moments of their lives. My boss is an award winning decorator that has been on the Food Network. She has taught me so much, but I still have a lot to learn.

Topsy-turvey is an extremely popular choice for a fun birthday

I think the tye-die is so cute!

Ivory-pearlized fondant on white is popular and classy for weddings

Distorted Beauty

I came across this video on youtube a while back. It amazes me every time I watch it. It is so sad when people distort natural beauty. They try and make all the girls fit into cookie cutter images that in reality not every woman can stand up to.
This video proves it.
I know I am hypocritical of myself in many ways. I feel fat on certain days, my hips are too wide, my hair isn’t working, I don’t have high cheekbones. But I need to remind myself that I was created in God’s image. Man did not form me with photoshop. God formed me! God knit me in my mother’s womb! I pray to God to remind me on my bad and good days of this. I do not need to fear what man thinks, because God thinks my appearance is perfect, because he made me.
