Through the Highs and Lows

Friend: a person you know well and regard with affection and trust, an ally, a supporter.

Now, what I am about to say, will probably make you think, "What type of Christan girl is she? Duh!"
But I recently got hit with the fact that Christ wants to be my friend.
Everyday I am in awe of Jesus.
His many layers, his depths, his attributes.

What is a friend?
A friend is someone you can tell your inner thoughts too, who gives you tough love because you need it; someone who loves you for you.

To deepen a friendship, it takes effort.
You have to spend time with them, talk to them, be with them.
Friendship cannot be one-sided, it takes two.

This is what I realized: God cannot do everything in our relationship.
I have to do my part.
God has done everything he needs to do in our friendship, he knows everything about me, he is there waiting for me to catch up to him.
Now it is my turn.
I have always known this. But just recently I believed this.
I want to do everything in my power to know my Jesus more.
To know what he would say about something, to turn to him first with my troubles, to understand how his mind works.

I am slow, but I am so thankful that Christ showed me this.

“This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.” John 15:12-15 NKJV
